Vienna Chamber Symphony - Schubert, Brahms and Bruckner - chamber music

Vienna Chamber Symphony - Schubert, Brahms and Bruckner - chamber music
The Vienna Chamber Symphony takes you to the romantic Vienna of Schubert, Brahms and Bruckner. Besides picturesque palaces and the unbeatable Sachertorte, Vienna is above all the city of music. This year, the music world is extensively celebrating the bicentennial of Anton Bruckner's birth. The Vienna Chamber Symphony will perform three beloved movements from his Third, Fourth and Seventh Symphonies. The Viennese ensemble completes the evening with an atmospheric Impromptu by Schubert and the dashing Liebesliederwalzer by Bruckner's contemporary and townsman Johannes Brahms.

Quirine Viersen (cello), Nikola Meeuwsen (piano)

Quirine Viersen (cello), Nikola Meeuwsen (piano)
Together with viola player Dana Zemtsov, cellist Quirine Viersen and a number of talented young musicians such as pianist Nikola Meeuwsen, violinist Hawijch Elders and double bassist Sasha Witteveen form the piano quintet The Trouts. This ensemble feels like a fish out of water on the chamber music stage. In the Edesche Concert Hall, they will perform perhaps the most famous piano quintet ever composed: Schubert's "Trout Quintet. This cheerful piece owes its nickname to the famous song of the same name that Schubert incorporated into it. The Trouts play this masterpiece with Ralph Vaughan Williams' expressive Piano Quintet in c as its worthy counterpart.

Raoul Steffani (baritone)

Raoul Steffani (baritone)
Boundless passion and unfulfilled desire, these are the ingredients for one of the most moving song compositions ever written: Schubert's Die schöne Müllerin. A young miller falls hopelessly in love with the beautiful miller's daughter. However, she has her sights set on a tough hunter. That can't end well. How? You will hear that from baritone Raoul Steffani and master pianist Severin von Eckardstein. Like no other, this classical dream team brings Schubert's tragic love story to life. Severin von Eckardstein is considered one of the most important interpreters of Schubert's piano music. Raoul Steffani, winner of the Dutch Music Prize 2023, is "with his warm baritone voice and sensitivity to text a dream song interpreter," according to de Volkskrant.
