Izhar Elias (guitar)

Izhar Elias (guitar)
Take a unique time travel to the Vienna of 1813 with master guitarist Izhar Elias, proud winner of the Dutch Music Prize, and the PuraCorda String Quartet. In that year, Beethoven's compelling Seventh Symphony - yes, the one with that legendary Allegretto - sounded for the first time. None other than Italian guitar virtuoso Mauro Giuliani was a cellist in Beethoven's orchestra that night. Giuliani was celebrating great success at the time with his Second Guitar Concerto. Izhar Elias and the PuraCorda String Quartet bring both masterpieces to life on period instruments, including a famous 1812 Guadagnini guitar. For an evening, imagine yourself in the Vienna of Beethoven and Giuliani!

Anna Tsybuleva - Mozart, Schumann, Debussy - World Pianists

Anna Tsybuleva - Mozart, Schumann, Debussy - World Pianists
For the piano music of Mozart, Schumann and Debussy, world pianist Anna Tsybuleva is the go-to person. The playing of this engaging pianist is poetic and lilting. "Genius combined with grace," is how the leading music magazine Gramophone describes her performance. At the piano, Tsybuleva links Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 9, KV.311 with Schumann's Symphonic Etüden, op. 13. In addition, her selection of Debussy's delicate Préludes brings to life images as striking as Rameau's Baroque keyboard pieces. 'Tsybuleva's Debussy offers an inspired vision, full of sonic beauty,' writes Bachtrack.

Animato Quartet - Beethoven, Brahms, Bartók - String Quartets
The Animato Quartet is among today's most exciting Dutch string quartets. The four musicians are known for their intense and powerful playing, as well as their great stage presence. Precisely those qualities needed for Beethoven's melancholy Sixth String Quartet "La malinconia," Bartók's compelling First String Quartet, and Brahms' romantic Second String Quartet. In 2022, the Animato Quartet won the audience award of Dutch Classical Talent. "Four top players with a vibrant energy

Stephen Waarts (violin) and Elisabeth Brauß (piano) - Schubert, Brahms, R. Strauss - Chamber Music

Stephen Waarts (violin) and Elisabeth Brauß (piano) - Schubert, Brahms, R. Strauss - Chamber Music
Pianist and former artist in residence Elisabeth Brauß returns to the Edesche Concert Hall! Together with the renowned Belgian violinist Stephen Waarts, Elisabeth brings three romantic works from the Viennese chamber music repertoire, or in other words, small-scale classical music with an opulent aura. This is particularly true of Brahms' First Violin Sonata, op. 78. "From the first note of Stephen Waarts' performance of Brahms' G-major Sonata, I was sold, and within a few bars I was moved to tears," according to a reviewer of the leading music magazine The Strad. If Brahms already has so much impact, what can one expect from Richard Strauss' passionate Violin Sonata? Come experience it for yourself.

Lisa Jacobs

Lisa Jacobs
A compelling story without words, that, in short, is Schoenberg's masterpiece Verklärte Nacht. As a starting point, Schoenberg took a romantic poem by Richard Dehmel about two lovers who promise each other eternal fidelity despite everything. Equally sensitive is the uplifting Second String Sextet by Schoenberg's musical hero Johannes Brahms. Star violinist Lisa Jacobs and her ensemble The String Soloists play both masterpieces as two sides of the same coin: passionate and moving. Brahms and Schoenberg to the full.

Quirine Viersen (cello), Nikola Meeuwsen (piano)
Together with viola player Dana Zemtsov, cellist Quirine Viersen and a number of talented young musicians such as pianist Nikola Meeuwsen, violinist Hawijch Elders and double bassist Sasha Witteveen form the piano quintet The Trouts. This ensemble feels like a fish out of water on the chamber music stage. In the Edesche Concert Hall, they will perform perhaps the most famous piano quintet ever composed: Schubert's "Trout Quintet. This cheerful piece owes its nickname to the famous song of the same name that Schubert incorporated into it. The Trouts play this masterpiece with Ralph Vaughan Williams' expressive Piano Quintet in c as its worthy counterpart.
